TLR 165: steve gunn - full size play 'the song'

LP released May 28, 2026. black vinyl LP - $28, LP and digital via three lobed bandcamp and open mouth records bandcamp.

Full Size burned bright and briefly. The Philadelphia art/garage rock quartet always ended their sets with "The Song". While titled and known as such, it was really more than just a song. It was a rallying cry, a teleportation device, a way to stop time, a flash of light. In September of 2024 the band descended upon Raleigh NC the Three Lobed / Smashed Plastic / WXDU Annual Ritual of Summoning, the decade plus day of sets that occurs during the Hopscotch Music Festival. The crowd in attendance that day discovered the power of the band and "The Song". Over the course of a time-bending half hour Bill Nace (guitar - solo, Body/Head, a million collaborations), Eva Killinger (drums - Long Hots, Stiff Curls, Spacin'), Ash Burrows (bass - Heavenly Bodies, Stiff Curls) and Dustin Burrows (guitar - Heavenly Bodies) stretched the boundaries of reality and took everyone in the room with them. As their stage plot read, one chord is too many chords. Look to the singularity. Listen in over at Bandcamp and see for yourself.

Co-released by Three Lobed and Open Mouth, this new release places "The Song" (and Full Size's amazingly precise and sustained attack) into focus and captures it for posterity. Originally recorded by Jonas Blank and mastered by Brian Haran, the LP comes from a one-time run of 290 copies. The Three Lobed inventory is pretty sparse and only available via Bandcamp. (Copies were offered to current year Three Lobed subscribers.) Available now for immediate shipment.
